DOS PALOS Y, Calif. — October 31, 2026. A nearby city infrastructure project received federal funding intended to strengthen wastewater treatment for the Dos Palos area. U.S. Rep. Adam Gray announced $1,092,000 for the City of Dos Palos Waste Water Treatment Facility, a project designed to replace or improve aging equipment and make operations more reliable.
In a February 5, 2026, funding announcement, Gray’s office described the plan as construction of a new package treatment plant intended to offer an easier-to-maintain, more affordable long-term solution to the city’s wastewater challenges. A September visit to Dos Palos highlighted the money and local officials’ support.
Why wastewater infrastructure matters
Treatment facilities handle used water from homes, businesses and other connected properties before it is discharged or managed under applicable permits. Aging systems can lead to expensive breakdowns and financial pressure on small local governments.
Mayor Katy Reed said the funding would support essential repairs and upgrades that the community might otherwise struggle to afford. Local reporting in September described the project as a significant investment for a city with limited resources.
Important: Dos Palos is not the same as Dos Palos Y
The grant names the incorporated City of Dos Palos as the recipient. Residents of nearby unincorporated Dos Palos Y should not assume that their property is connected to the city’s sewer system or that the grant will automatically change their service or monthly bill. Connections and utility service boundaries must be confirmed with the actual service provider.
What has not yet been established?
Federal funding was announced, but that is not the same as verification that a treatment facility has been built or completed. The publicly cited announcements do not establish a final construction timeline or guarantee future utility rates.
The separate County Service Area 44 sewer treatment project, also included in the congressional project list, is not part of the same $1.09 million grant. It concerns facilities serving Castello Estates and Linne Estates and should not be conflated with the city project.
To check planning, connection and billing questions, residents can contact City of Dos Palos and the relevant county service district.
